The 8th Committee of China Institute of Electronics on Communication Society was formally founded the other day and smoothly handed over from the previous committee. The leading group of the new committee were selected according to the relevant articles of association of China Institute of Electronics came into being, with Lai Guozhu occupying the honorary president, Su Zhenming the chairman of the committee and Chen Wenhai the general secretary.

　　The sixth session of seventh executive directors conference of China Institute of Electronics was convened in Beijing on December 26 last year. Committees of fifteen branches of the CIE including Communication Society reviewed and passed all the election lists at expiration of office terms in the meeting. Therefore election at expiration of office terms of the Communication Society was successfully finished, and the new 8th branch committee was formally established. After changing the term of the office, Communication Society branch hung out its shingle in China Electronics Corporation（CEC）, and its office was situated at NO. 49 Fuxing Road in Beijing.

　　The academic activity plans of the newly established 8th Communication Society branch from July 2006 to June 2007 (www.ciecs.org) come into being. It will take the lead in combining with the photo-communication specialized committee of China Institute of Communications, the Fibre and Integrated Optics Speciality Committee of the China Optical Society to hold “the 13th National Session of Fibre-optical Communication and the 14th Integrated Optics conference”, which is scheduled in the third quarter of 2007. With the largest influence in domestic photo-communication science field, it is the largest scale academic meeting. Meanwhile the 21st Tele-Expo(known as “Communication Olympics”) under the branch will be opened in Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center on April 12-14, 2007. Besides, there are other five important communication activities inside the industry such as Seminar of Electronic Equipment Monitoring and Analysis (Hangzhou), Seminar of Satellite Communication Technology and Industry Development (Beijing), the 6th Seminar of Nationwide Information Hiding and Multi-media Information Safety（Harbin）, Seminar of C hina Communication IC Technology and Application 2006 and Seminar of City Emergency Linkage Communication Technology.
