government orders and local orders made by
ministries and commissions of the state, and the
provincial and municipal governments, respectively,
and more than 5,000 foreign orders. This fair in
Pudong was indeed an international feast of
electronic information industry.
On the first day of the fair, November 14, many
industry VIPs from home and other countries and
regions in Asia attended the grand opening ceremony.
Among them were Zhang Jinqiang, a member of National
Committee of CPPCC, former Deputy Minister of
Ministry of Electronics Industry, and Chairman of
China Electronics Enterprise Association; Zhou
Baoyuan, Deputy Director of General Office of
Ministry of Information Industry; Shi Xingde,

Electronics Association; Sekine Hisashi, Director of
Beijing Office of Japan Electronics and Information
Technology Industries Association; Wu Ziheng, Chief
Representative of Hong Kong Trade Development
Council for East China region; Jiao Youjun,
Director-General of Taiwan Electrical and Electronic
Manufacturers’ Association. Nie Yuchun made an
opening speech. He said, as the largest fair in
China, CEF has been promoting the development and
technological innovation of Chinese electronics
enterprises, especially the medium and small
enterprises. The forty years of development history
of CEF demonstrated that this fair is having
stronger vitality and wider international vision.
The growth of CEF will certainly facilitate the
further active and healthy development of the
industry.
The fair showcased the full range of latest
technologies and products of domestic and foreign
high-tech enterprises in electronic materials,
electronic production equipments, instruments and
meters, electronic components and devices,
opto-electronic display, integrated circuits, IT
digital products, and consumer electronics. Among
those companies that attended the fair with their
leading technologies and products in the respective
fields were Vishay, one of the world’s largest
manufacturers of discrete semiconductors and passive
components, RS Components Ltd., the world’s largest
industrial products distributor, FCI, the third
largest connector manufacturers, Enerdis of France,
Espec of Japan, Tanaka Seiki Co., Ltd. of Japan, the
world’s first coil winding machine manufacturer,
IriTech, the world’s leading iris recognition
company, China Card Corporation, the largest
smartcard manufacturer in China, and Energizer.
Tanaka Seiki of Japan expressed their satisfaction
on the effect of the exhibition and the other
activities in the fair. In an interview with our
reporter, the director and Deputy General Manager of
the company Fujino Yasunari said that they would
further expand their exhibition area on the 72nd CEF
next year, hopefully to 108 square meters and would
bring their full range of latest products.
Other activities showed the directions of industry
development
Rich industry activities were launched along with
the fair, including the first China Electronics Golf
Invitation game, voting of leading electronic
component companies in China market, exchange
meeting for FICIME and Chinese suppliers, meeting of
Chinese and Korean electronics and IT companies.
These activities provided multi-dimensional exchange
platforms for people in the electronics industry.
The first China Electronics Golf Invitation Game was
held on November 16 in Shanghai Malaren Golf Club,
which provided a relaxing, harmonious but also
competitive environment for exchange to the elites
in the electronics industry. Executives from Holy
Stone, Tanaka Seiki of Japan, BenTu of Hong Kong,
Dane-Elec Memory, Fuzhou Shixin Electronic Science
and Technology, Ltd., Changling (Group) Co. Ltd. of
Shannxi, Shanghai University, Zhejiang Dongyang
Dongci participated in this game. As the foundation
of electronic information industry, the development
of electronic components affects the progress of the
entire electronic information industry. The
industrial development and technology innovation
need to be driven b the leading companies. The
electronic machine manufactures also need
referencing information when choosing partners. The
announcement of 2007 Leading Electronic Component
Companies in China Market received a great amount of
attention from the industry. The leading companies
in China electronic component market including
Kemet, Murata, TDK, Vishay, Emerson, EPCOS, Avago,
Guizhou Space Appliance Co, Ltd., Yageo, Holy Stone,
Jiangsu Jewel Technology Group Co., Ltd, Kyocera,
Taiyo Yuden were the recipients of various awards
such as “Best Service Company” in Capacitors, “Most
Famous Company” in Sensors, “Most Famous Company” in
piezoelectric crystal, etc. In the evening of
November 14, the organizing committee held a news
conference and award ceremony for this voting event
in Pudong.
The fair also launched over a dozen industry
high-end forums on the hot topics in the industry,
covering the subjects of the current auto
electronics, FPD, RFID, green manufacturing and
power technologies. The forums closely followed the
current development and reflected Chinese
government’s call on the development of the
industry. The subjects of energy-saving, waste
reduction and independent innovation were
emphasized.
Green manufacturing and green energy is one of the
bright spots of this electronic fair. The fair set
up a green electronic products exhibition area,
promoting the implementation of “Management Measures
on Electronic Information Product Pollution Control”
through product show. Along with this exhibition
area, to further promote green manufacturing and
green electronic products, the “China Electronic
Companies Green Manufacturing and Certification
Seminar” was held during the fair to introduce the
concept of green production from the angle of laws
and regulations and discuss the urgent issues of
various companies. Meanwhile, Intertek Group held
the “International Forum on Global RoHS
Implementation” and invited the experts of RoHS law
enforcement authorities in the Ministry of
Information Industry, European Union, and South
Korea, and the representatives from major
international clients to carry out in-depth analysis
of the future development trend of RoHS and the key
points that need to be paid attention to.
The introduction and presentation of some innovative
technologies at CEF is also a major focus of the
fair. The middle-stream panel display giants such as
BOE and SVA discussed the future and outlook of the
panel industry on 2007 (Shanghai) China FPD
Manufacturers Forum during the fair. The
representative of medium and small-sized panel
production companies, Shanghai Tianma Micro
Electronics told a detailed story of their
miraculous success in the international field. The
successful development of 140" laser back projection
display by Beijing Zhongshi Zhongke represented
another major breakthrough of China’s independent
development of intellectual property rights. Both
attracted a lot of attention. The Auto Electronics
Forum held during the fair made unprecedented
breakthrough this year. In addition to the active
participation of auto electronics companies,
engineers from Shanghai Automotive Industry
Corporation and Shanghai GM Pan-Asia Technical
Automotive Center gave introductions on the
application of auto electronic technologies.
Brand new development of automatic identification
technology and its application was also presented at
the fair. CEF launched a Biometrics special area
this year. About 30 companies presented the
application of fingerprint recognition technology in
door lock, technical burglary prevention, and data
protection. The world’s leading iris recognition
company IriTech presented their latest recognition
technology. RFID technology has got unprecedented
attention and made unprecedented development as well
in China since the upgrade to the second generation
resident identification card. Around the subject of
“From RFID to NFC: Leading New Applications in
Communication”, the "2007 (Shanghai) 7th Advanced
Seminar on RFID Technology and Application” and the
